When the posting is tough, the memes get posting?
Content notes: In addition to the obvious pandemic focus, there's some food/disordered eating(?) talk below, and I think the questions are kind of US-centric?
1. Are you an Essential Worker?
No -- I'm not even a worker, in the way this question means. (Though I suppose I can say that I'm as essential as any other person in this world.)
2. How many drinks have you had since the quarantine has started?
None, which is typical for me.
3. If you have kids... Are they driving you nuts?
No kids, and my parents have been pretty well behaved: they're letting me handle the shopping, they're staying home, and they're even humoring me enough to get some gentle exercise.
4. What new hobby have you taken up during this?
I'm not sure I'd call it a hobby, but I sewed myself a rather clumsy face mask out of fabric and elastic cut from an old fitted sheet, and I felt very proud of myself.
Oh, and I'm DMing a new online D&D campaign, for four whole players this time, in a homebrew setting! We're definitely still finding our footing, I think, but it's a new and interesting challenge for sure.
5. How many grocery runs have you done?
One per week.
6. What are you spending your stimulus check on?
I haven't quite had the energy to determine what's involved in getting one, but if I do, I'll probably donate some to a food bank and save the rest.
7. Do you have any special occasions that you will miss during this quarantine?
I'm guessing that travel will still be restricted in November and December, so there probably won't be the usual family gatherings for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Depending on how long this goes on, I might miss a couple of weddings if they aren't postponed.
8. Are you keeping your housework done?
About as much as I ever do (I say wryly).
9. What movie have you watched during this quarantine?
None, which also is typical for me.
10. What are you streaming with?
The internet? I'm not sure if this question is about media subscriptions or video chat, but I haven't done very much of either.
11. 9 months from now is there any chance of you having a baby?
Not unless one or more people are unexpectedly adopted into the household.
12. What's your go-to quarantine meal?
Honestly, potato chips and a chocolate protein shake. Cereal and soymilk is also nice, but it's less filling.
13. Is this whole situation making you paranoid?
I am very aware of my breathing!
14. Has your internet gone out on you during this time?
Once, due to high winds. I was surprised by how quickly it was restored -- within hours.
15. What month do you predict this all ends?
If the worst of it is over a year from now, I'll consider us lucky.
16. First thing you're gonna do when you get off quarantine?
Breathe a big sigh of relief from the comfort and solitude of my room, probably. I do feel a little hemmed in, but I'm still very much an introvert.
17. Where do you wish you were right now?
In a country that exercised reasonable precautions to halt the spread of the pandemic and made sure that everyone was provided for in the meantime.
18. What free-from-quarantine activity are you missing the most?
Standing within six feet of my loved ones without worrying that I might be an asymptomatic carrier.
19. Have you run out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer?
No, we've got enough toilet paper for now, and I almost never use hand sanitizer, so my one small bottle remains unopened.
20. Do you have enough food to last a month?
Yes, although the menu would probably get pretty monotonous by the end of that -- and that could be a little worse than inconvenient, given that even with some of my favorite foods on hand, I'm already having to make a conscious effort to put enough calories in me. (I'm pretty sure this is just a stress response, rather than infection-related loss of appetite or an unconscious attempt at saving food or anything, but it is kind of a pain.)

Date: 2020-04-17 07:29 am (UTC)It's all been very disruptive, even for introvert me who is still working. I don't like change, and unsettled rapid change like this is really scary.

Date: 2020-04-18 03:46 am (UTC)Yes! I think even a good change that happened this quickly would be perturbing, and this is... something with good aspects, like people trying to keep each other safe and the respite the environment is getting in many places, but not overall something I would call good. Or even predictable.

Date: 2020-04-21 02:10 am (UTC)And seriously, that ever-present worry that one is an asymptomatic carrier and thus a danger to friends/family is no fun...

Date: 2020-04-21 04:07 am (UTC)We finally managed to dig up a long-disused thermometer, so at least now I'm able to keep a log of my daily temperatures. So far, so good, anyway...
ETA: I wrote the above, and then I wondered, is this excessively paranoid for someone with no known contacts to anyone carrying the virus? And I don't really have any idea of the answer. But I'm the shopper for a household with at least one person who has multiple risk factors, and it's a simple thing I can do that makes me feel a bit better. So I guess even if it is silly, I'm still glad I have the option, just from an anxiety management perspective.

Date: 2020-04-21 04:23 am (UTC)I have to take my temperature every morning, before reporting to work. It's reassuring every morning to see it totally normal.
