AO3 etiquette question
Aug. 2nd, 2012 05:49 amNot that I'm expecting that this is exactly standardized, but suppose you like a fic enough to leave a comment saying so. Is leaving kudos as well simply standard operating procedure, or does it indicate an even greater level of enthusiasm than would be communicated by either kudos or comment alone?
I guess I could try to answer my own question by cross-referencing comment authors and kudos-givers, but I figured I'd do the lazy thing first.

I don't know why this talent works on everyone else but not on me. I think it might be because the situations I'm in myself are always so much more ridiculous than everyone else's. Seriously. SRSLY.
I edited it because well, I re-read my comment after I wrote it, thinking blithely about myself, and then I was like 'wait, there's something... gender-y... off...' and then I had to go digging through your COPIOUS ARCHIVES (that's a joke, if you didn't know) and find your about me entry, which you really ought to sticky, and then I was like 'OH, that's why the gender felt wrong' and basically, yeah, you didn't need this explanation at all, but if I forget in the future, it's not because I don't like you or you're not important enough to remember this sort of thing about, it's mostly because I am horribly self-involved and like to pretend that everyone I like is just like me, gender included.
I am aware that it's not true, but sometimes I forget. I have magical forgetting powers, but they're a bit like an old keyboard--massively prone to wonkiness and more than a bit dodgy, but impossible to get rid of in case you might need them again someday. No? It's just me? Then why does my dad have enough parts for another 5 computers downstairs? RIDDLE ME THAT.

And living as I do in a house with an attic full of old and broken computer parts and accessories, I'm sure that your keyboard analogy must be absolutely universal!
