silentwalrus, in which Edward Elric, Roy Mustang, and Maes Hughes get sent across a dimensional gate to lend a hand with this little Death Eater problem and end up facepalming a lot about the entirety of the wizarding world.
It's... kind of a masterpiece of mayhem and colorful language, by which I don't only mean swearing, but don't not mean swearing, either. Content note for numerous and highly embellished insults based on intelligence, gender, and probably some other traits I'm forgetting? Plus canon typical levels of societal fuckery, and presumably someday of violence, although to date there has not in fact been contact with the enemy -- just 175k of lovingly described alchemy, incredulity, and scheming.

Well, a lot sure has happened before the halfway point of season two!
I still love Amos: he did a fantastic job figuring out how to get in the head of their empathy-less captured scientist, he 1000% would have let Alex punch him if it would've made Alex feel better about needing to be rescued from a bar fight, and in all honesty, I really enjoyed watching him beat up Miller. I'm a fan of simple pleasures, okay?
There's a quote from Jim's actor -- if you don't mind spoilers for backstory novella The Churn, it's towards the end of this double interview here -- about how Chatham never plays Amos as macho or acting for the sake of his own ego, and it's so true. He wasn't beating up Miller because he disliked him -- he liked him fine! He was just methodically demolishing Miller's face because Miller was so determined to make problems! And that's why Amos is a perfect sweetheart if you just make sure to never seem like you might be threatening anything he holds dear.
I've been kind of surprised not to like Draper more than I have so far -- apparently wanting to start wars really puts me off -- but if she's going to be pointing herself at a genuine invading force rather than an entire planet of mostly civilians, my feelings may soon change.
It really is a pleasure to watch Chrisjen work, meanwhile. She always knows exactly how much weight she has to throw around, and she isn't afraid to apply it judiciously.
I also really liked cover of The Killers' "When You Were Young" by Press Club. I love the energy, and lead singer Natalie Foster's stage presence is fantastic.
