Snowflake Challenge #7: Self-rec
Jan. 15th, 2020 07:20 pmI think what I'd most like to recognize about myself here is how good I am at getting excited about things. That might sound silly! But I really like hearing about things that people are working on, and I also really like exploring new ideas, and I think that makes me pretty good at cheerleading, or bouncing ideas around with, or just talking forever about random AUs for the fun of it.
I'm not the person you'd want to go to if you needed someone to really push you hard to meet your goals, but I am someone who will be here for you 100% along the way and cheer for every bit of progress -- and the times you take a much needed rest! -- as well as for making it across the finish line. And I'm not the most likely to tell you that I think you're flat out wrong (unless it's about something I have strong moral feelings about), but I will absolutely explore every side of the issue with you for as long as you're interested. And I'll enjoy doing it! And that's something I really like about myself.
Thinking about this a little more, maybe isn't surprising that a lot of what I'm happiest and most proud about isn't the fic I've written or the fanart I've drawn, but just the conversations I've had about different aspects of a character's personality, or what they'd be like if they had magic, or what might happen if they ended up with a sentient roomba. There's something about tossing ideas back and forth like that that's really rewarding.

Date: 2020-01-16 01:31 am (UTC)I am very curious about the sentient Roomba.

Date: 2020-01-16 05:13 am (UTC)Most of my contributions to the sentient roomba thread in question probably wouldn't make much sense if you aren't familiar with Person of Interest, but I am still fond of the bit about Shaw, who's like five foot nothing of highly trained assassin, throwing paperclips for the roomba to fetch and possibly naming it Spike.

Date: 2020-01-16 06:11 am (UTC)Aww, this is still an adorable thread, even without much context. <3 The Machine (possibly as a roomba) sounds adorable. And I very much enjoy your description of how Shaw interacts with the roomba.
ALSO OH MY GOODNESS:
(The 1% of the time when the roomba isn’t harmless, it has just tripped an unexpected and unwelcome visitor to the library. It then beeps in low and dejected tones appropriate to the Machine’s uncertainty over whether this unprecedented intervention into human affairs can be justified, even to protect human life.
What a crisis.
I did not know there was a highly trained assassin who likes dogs and fast cars in Person of Interest! This show has been on my watchlist for a bit and now I think I seriously need to watch it, for assassins and the Machine.

Date: 2020-01-18 11:26 pm (UTC)i'm also here if you want to toss around AUs or any random ideas. i really enjoy discussing that kind of stuff and i think that having those type of chats can be the best thing about fandoms and online spaces.
(also much love for that smol blue jughead! i also love the little cosmic fox. and your elogy fanart. that type of thing is the best part of playing D&D with friends!!)

Date: 2020-01-30 09:00 pm (UTC)I would like to talk to you about fic or other things too, just I am terrible at starting conversations.

Date: 2020-01-30 11:50 pm (UTC)Oh no, me too, in both respects! You've always been in my mental category of really cool fandom people for as long as I've known you. I'm really going to have to try to step up my conversation starting skills here!
