It's funny, my suspension of disbelief took the opposite trajectory -- I assumed it had to be a trick when it happened, but then when Shaw left with him still breathing, I thought maybe he'd pull through somehow and return in a surprise twist. But yes, wasn't it excellent, all the tiny cues that something was up?
I only dipped briefly into the general tag myself, but there seems to be a split between unhappiness that the sex scene didn't happen and that it looked for a minute like Shaw had died, yeah, and just delight that Shaw lives and fights on and that Root's feelings for her are requited.
And it is a weird feeling, isn't it? My investment in this show is probably never going to be what it once was, but I appreciate that it's giving me things to appreciate, you know?
