Who opposes Amazon?

So: I want to buy a book for someone whose preferred format is Kindle ebooks. I'm not a big fan of Amazon and I try to avoid giving them money where possible, but since it would probably be less of a gift if I'm asking the recipient to download and familiarize themself with a new app just to be able to read what I gave them, I figure in this case I'll make an exception.

The question I'm hoping that someone reading this might be able to answer is, do you know any good causes I could throw a little money towards to offset my chagrin at feeding the giant? Something pro-union might be good, but I'm open to other ideas too -- anything that's putting up a fight against monopolies, billionaires, unsafe working conditions, or even state surveillance, at this point.

I feel like maybe I need a disclaimer here to the effect that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, but I also know that gestures can do a lot for my peace of mind sometimes, and this seems like good information to have in any case. So fingers crossed!

Oh, that's a good idea.
