How deep in denial would you say I was if I refused to believe that Mayfair is actually dead?

ALLOW ME TO SHARE MY RATIONALIZATIONS.

  • Jane was super freaked in that scene, so there's no guarantee that she didn't accidentally leave while Mayfair was still hanging in there. Maybe she just felt really guilty and ran off without making absolutely sure!
  • Sure Oscar was buying a ton of lye, but like, that could have been to dissolve anyone.
  • We might have seen Mayfair slump back all lifeless and silent, but in actual reality, losing consciousness and dying for real can happen anywhere from minutes to days apart. Just because Jane lost hope doesn't mean I have to!
  • And like, Oscar's in league with Mayfair's ex, right? So maybe he called her all SO UM and she, feeling that actually murdering Bethany was a bridge too far -- they'd only meant to ruin her life here, okay! -- had him do what he could to keep her alive until she could arrange for some top of the line medical care.
  • Anyway, didn't Oscar say the mysterious Shepherd brought Jane back from the dead? I'm just saying, there's precedent.
  • You can't tell me this show isn't all about the over-the-top twists. Or I mean, you could, but I would just point wordlessly to Kurt digging up Taylor Shaw's body in the middle of a thunderstorm and wait for you to concede the point.
  • Patterson isn't willing to admit that Mayfair's dead yet, and would my precious science child ever steer us wrong? She would never!
  • MAYFAIR IS TOO AWESOME TO DIE.

I admit that all of the above is a little undermined by the fact that in interviews they all talk about it like it's real, but in those same interviews, they're also being asked if it isn't a little concerning to join the number of shows killing off LGB women, so, like.

Show, there's still time to change your mind!!!!!
